What does it take to rebuild a research culture? In our first episode of the Asia Research News podcast, we delve into Doing Research in Myanmar: a systematic study of how social science research is produced, distributed and used in the country. We touch on historical context, as well as the main challenges and opportunities for restoring Myanmar’s once robust research culture. We hear from local Myanmar and international researchers studying this issue: the Global Development Network and the Centre for Economic and Social Development; as well as the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and the Australian National University Myanmar Research Centre.
